Job Description

Category Schools - BCBA Job Type Contract Support students on the autism spectrum in a dynamic K-21 educational environment as a contracted Autism Support Specialist. In this full-time (1.0 FTE, 191 days/year) role, you'll deliver and adapt instructional activities and lessons tailored for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, including those with Asperger's Syndrome and high-functioning autism. Your expertise will shape both classroom-based learning and resource room support, contributing to a safe, engaged, and productive environment while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Qualifications & Experience:
BCBA certification required. Experience working with students on the autism spectrum across diverse age groups and educational settings. Strong knowledge of behavior analysis and intervention planning for persistent and complex behaviors. Familiarity with adapting lessons and materials for students with varied needs. Ability to interpret assessment data and communicate findings clearly to staff and parents. Commitment to cultural competency and respect for family diversity in intervention planning. Skilled in crisis prevention, conflict resolution, and collaborative team participation.
Responsibilities:
Administer assessments to determine eligibility and measure growth; interpret results in jargon-free language. Initiate and analyze behavioral data, modifying support plans as needed. Apply evidence-based instructional and behavioral practices, including discrete trial teaching, pivotal response training, and functional routines. Design and implement social and play skills instruction. Adapt curriculum to individual learner needs and collaborate with peers, related service providers, and IEP teams. Facilitate professional development for educators, parents, and service providers. Ensure learning environments are visually structured and promote independence. Communicate community resources to families and support their access to services. Maintain compliance with policies, procedures, and safety protocols, including crisis intervention.
