POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing biomedical equipment technologies, devices, instruments, and systems under direct supervision. Additional responsibilities may include inventory control.
CORE FUNCTIONS 1.
Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and safety inspections and testing on a diverse range of therapeutic and diagnostic biomedical equipment, instrumentation, devices and systems using specialized test equipment, tools, simulation devices and phantoms. 2. Identifies, diagnoses, and implements minor repairs associated with equipment malfunctions on general low end-risk medical devices and equipment. 3. Assists with the installation, maintenance, and repair of biomedical equipment. 4. Documents all work performed, maintains parts, supplies, tools, test equipment and technical literature by completing service reports and supplemental productivity documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Maintains an accurate and current parts inventory. 5. Provides customer relations and resolves equipment service problems by ensuring that clinical capability is restored as quickly as possible. Maintains communication with customers regarding the status of equipment repairs. 6. Assists with testing and calibrating equipment in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and/or other established guidelines. 7. This position has service responsibility in several departments in multiple facilities: regionally and system wide. Customers are internal and external (including physicians, nurses, other hospital and HMO personnel, veterinary clinics, surgery centers, walk-in customers, etc.) This position receives direction from senior level Technicians or department leadership.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a strong knowledge of electronics as normally obtained through the completion of an Associate's degree in electronics or related field or equivalent training or two years of related equivalent experience. Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy. Understanding of the repair and maintenance of general low-risk medical equipment technology devices. Knowledge of the application and use of PC's and how it interfaces with medical equipment. Understanding of the technical aspects of electronic equipment, its operation, repair and maintenance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two years industry experience. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
