Scope of Work:
The Biomedical Technician is responsible for overseeing the overall operational condition, maintenance and repair of all water treatment equipment, all medical equipment and mechanical/electrical systems to ensure patient safety and the safety of all staff operating such equipment for their assigned clinic(s).Responsibilities and Expectations:
Demonstrates effective use of supplies and staff labor hours Assist with purchasing as needed; place orders, perform weekly and month end inventory counts Be familiar with the overall procedures used in inventory control and assist in the documentation and control of excess inventory Perform duties as assigned to meet the patient care and/or operational needs of the facility Troubleshoot, repair and maintain equipment as recommended by the manufacturer Repair, calibrate, test, clean and disinfect dialysis machines, water distribution loop and RO's according to protocol Perform water quality checks to include but not limited to; free chlorine, total chlorine, and water hardness testing Perform safety checks and test on all pre-treatment water equipment including but not limited to carbon tanks, water softeners, RO units, UV lamps and ultra filters Collect samples of RO water and dialysate for microbiology testing according to protocol Collect water samples for AAMI analysis testing according to protocol Disinfection of central bicarbonate systems and mixing tank according to protocol Disinfection of RO, distribution system, and hemodialysis machines according to protocol Perform duties at all times within limitations established by and in accordance with company policy and procedures, applicable state and federal laws and regulations Assist with program's target goals for patient outcomes in accordance with quality patient care and company goals Attend and participate in monthly Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) meetings Use appropriate safety measures including personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary Be familiar with emergency equipment and all emergency operational measures Participate in staff meetings as required. Attend in-services and continuing education sessions in compliance with company policy and procedure Assist with staff training as requested Participate in team concepts and promote a team effort, perform duties in accordance with company policies and procedures All other duties as assignedPhysical Demands and Working Conditions:

The position regularly involves heavy lifting, moving of patients and assisting with ambulation. Equipment aids and/or coworkers may provide assistance This position requires frequent, prolonged periods of standing and the employee must be able to bend over The employee may occasionally be required to move, with assistance, machines and equipment of up to 200 lbs., and may lift chemical and water solutions of up to 50lbs. as high as 5 feet The work environment is characteristic of a health care facility with air temperature control and moderate noise levels May be exposed to infectious and contagious diseases/materials May be required to wear protective gear for extended periods of time. Day to day work includes desk work, computer work, interaction with patients, facility/hospital staff and physicians The position may require travel to training sites or other facilities. May be asked to provide essential functions of this position in other locations with the same physical demands and working conditions as described above.Requirements:
Position Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent Valid driver's license in relevant state. License must be kept as current, without restrictions and good driving records Previous dialysis, hospital, or medical experience preferred Confirmation of ability to differentiate all primary colors Ability to react and perform under stress and in emergency conditions Ability to communicate and work effectively with others Ability to work independently as well as with others to plan and organize work assignments Demonstrated working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate in writing as well as verbally Must have basic computer skills; proficiency in all NRC clinical applications required within 90 days of hire Must be able to organize time and tasks well Ability to meet minimum hospital/agency hiring standards which may include additional background clearances and orientation requirements if applicable to the program assigned to for employmentSimilar jobs in Los Angeles, CA
