Equipment Distribution Tech

Job Requirements Under general supervision, the Clinical Equipment Technician is responsible for the distribution, cleaning, maintenance, repair, and inventory management of clinical equipment and supplies utilized throughout the Medical Center. This role supports patient care operations by ensuring equipment is safe, functional, properly disinfected, and readily available for clinical staff. Clinical Equipment Management Coordinate and manage the procurement, maintenance, repair, and distribution of clinical equipment including pumps, beds, infusion devices, and related medical equipment. Partner with Biomedical Engineering Technicians to support equipment repair and preventative maintenance activities. Coordinate with clinical departments regarding the exchange, retrieval, and replacement of equipment requiring service or repair. Rotate equipment for scheduled preventative maintenance and inspection. Ensure proper storage and organization of equipment when not in use. Verify accuracy of incoming equipment and supplies by comparing receiving documentation to delivered items. Perform computer data entry and maintain accurate equipment tracking records as required. Maintenance and Repair Perform routine preventative maintenance and minor repair work in accordance with departmental procedures. Repair basic medical equipment such as electronic scales and thermometers. Safely operate electric drills and other hand tools. Perform minor repairs to office and support equipment as needed. Collaborate with Facilities Management on maintenance-related issues when appropriate. Cleaning, Disinfection, and Infection Control Inspect, assemble, clean, and prepare equipment for decontamination in accordance with hospital safety and infection control standards. Clean and disinfect equipment prior to inspection, redistribution, or storage. Follow established procedures for handling clean and contaminated equipment to minimize cross-contamination risks. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and protective garments while cleaning and disinfecting equipment. Safely handle potentially hazardous equipment and materials to prevent injury and ensure compliance with chemical safety standards. Equipment Retrieval and Customer Support Retrieve contaminated equipment from patient care areas for cleaning and disinfection. Clean, restock, and maintain specialty equipment and carts, including crash carts and intubation boxes, according to departmental procedures. Respond promptly to customer service requests and assist departments in locating and obtaining necessary equipment. Communicate regularly with supervisors regarding damaged, malfunctioning, or missing equipment. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by ensuring equipment and supplies are stored appropriately and work areas remain free of debris. Compliance and Safety Adhere to all Medical Center and departmental policies, procedures, and quality standards. Maintain compliance with infection control, environmental, safety, security, and regulatory requirements. Support accreditation and regulatory readiness activities as applicable.
