The above reflects the anticipated hourly wage range for this position if hired to work in Jersey. The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience. Job Summary RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a BMET Intern who can demonstrate confidence in using electronic test equipment to diagnose and service medical equipment. Can assist Biomed staff in the repair of medical equipment, documents all work performed and can identify the different types of medical equipment and their use. Can assist management in meeting regulatory requirements and department/organizational goals. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Key Responsibilities 60% of time: Work with Biomed staff in performing preventive maintenance inspections appropriate to level of job competence using appropriate productivity & quality measures. Learning the function and application of the medical device. Understanding in the preventive maintenance program and the PM procedures that follow manufacturer guidelines. 15% of time: Work with Biomed staff on troubleshooting & repair of medical equipment appropriate to job proficiency level using established productivity & quality measures, demonstrating good judgment on performing component vs. circuit board level repairs. Quality of repairs is evident and lasting. Demonstrates the need to maintain an adequate level of parts on hand as applicable, to assist in keeping downtime to an absolute minimum. Timely and accurately documents all repairs in the biomedical equipment database. 15% of time: With guidance from Biomed staff inspects new devices & equipment with competence appropriate to job proficiency level. Secures all required device information for biomedical equipment database. Demonstrates the need to have current service and operator manuals on hand for proper servicing of all types of medical equipment. 10% of time: Works with local Manager on regulatory requirements and the execution of the department's management plan. Also assist the Manager in data gathering for reportable information and it pertains to department goals and objectives. Required Qualifications Current student in a degree program for Biomedical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent No experience Basic knowledge of hand tools Basic knowledge of electricity/electronics Knows how to use MS Office and other computer applications Bilingual skills, English/Spanish, are preferred.
