Nursing Simulation Technician (Part-time)
Description of Duties:
The Nursing Simulation Technician supports the instructional mission of the Nursing Program by preparing, maintaining, and operating simulation equipment and technology used in simulation-based learning experiences. This position works collaboratively with nursing faculty to ensure realistic, safe, and effective simulation activities that enhance student learning and clinical competency. Set up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain nursing simulation equipment, including high‑ and mid‑fidelity manikins, task trainers, audio‑visual systems, and simulation software. Assist faculty with simulation scenario preparation, execution, and breakdown. Program and operate simulation scenarios during instructional sessions. Maintain simulation lab readiness, including inventory control, equipment testing, and routine maintenance. Ensure proper storage, cleaning, and infection‑control practices for all simulation equipment and supplies. Provide technical support during simulations, skills labs, check‑offs, and competency assessments. Support debriefing sessions by managing audiovisual recordings and playback when applicable. Maintain accurate records related to equipment use, maintenance, repairs, and supply needs. Assist with the orientation and training of faculty and staff on simulation equipment and technology. Collaborate with faculty to identify opportunities for improved or expanded use of simulation technology. Support compliance with institutional policies related to lab safety, equipment use, student privacy, and simulation best practices. Perform other related duties as assigned. Works independently in carrying out assigned duties under established procedures and guidelines, with overall direction provided by nursing faculty and the Simulation and Lab Coordinator.
Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to use computers and/or instructional technology, including basic troubleshooting skills. Healthcare background, such as clinical experience, healthcare education support, or allied health education or training. Experience using nursing or healthcare simulation technology, including simulation manikins and related software. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Technical aptitude with simulation hardware, software, and audiovisual systems. Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. Problem‑solving skills to address technical issues in a fast‑paced instructional environment. Commitment to student learning, safety, and professional standards. Light lifting to 10 lbs. and light carrying up to 10 lbs. Ability to reach above the shoulder. Periods of time spent sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and stooping.
Desired Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Nursing, Allied Health, Healthcare Technology, Education, or a related field. Experience working in an academic or clinical simulation lab setting. Familiarity with simulation platforms (e.g., Laerdal, Gaumard, CAE, or similar systems) Experience supporting nursing or allied health education programs. Certification or training in healthcare simulation (e.g., CHSOS, CHSE, or vendor‑provided training)
