A Brief Overview The Biomedical Equipment Technician maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan, as guided by the Director of Clinical Engineering. Performs a variety of tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of complex medical equipment. What you will do Manages medical equipment assets through the inventory addition, deletion and verification process. Properly document medical equipment service records in the computerized medical equipment management system (CMMS) (MediMizer). Performs general repairs, calibrations, and preventive maintenance on medical devices using specialized test equipment. Completes assigned Preventive Maintenance (PM) within the scheduled month. Participates in the medical equipment emergency On-Call program. Effectively handles customer service issues. Responding to customers' requests in a timely manner. Education Qualifications Associate's Degree in biomedical Equipment Technology or Electronics Technology from a two-year college, technical school, or equivalent experience Required Experience Qualifications 2 to 5 years of experience servicing medical equipment. Skills and Abilities Basic knowledge of hand tools required Basic knowledge of test equipment required Basic knowledge of electricity/electronics required Knows how to use MS Office and other computer applications required Basic knowledge of types of medical equipment and medical terminology preferred Basic knowledge of electromechanical components preferred Knowledge of computers and networks preferred Licenses and Certifications Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician - Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation Preferred Physical Demand Medium Physical Demand The intent of this job description is to provide a representative and level of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as a contract for employment nor a declaration of the total of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.
