Performs all forms and levels of equipment preventive and corrective maintenance of medical, non-medical and hospital equipment. Provide in-service support for medical personnel and staff. Must have advanced working knowledge of hand tools and test equipment necessary for maintenance operations. Educational Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Associate level degree in recognized Military or Civilian Biomedical Maintenance Program. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Certification/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Individuals must be able to develop interlinking rapport with doctors, medical and support staff to ensure the development of an atmosphere advantageous to quality patient care. Extended level of knowledge and education of Biomedical repair regulatory requirements. Extensive computer literacy and knowledge of medical equipment management software programs. Must have current class "C" driver's license (State of Texas) and be capable of driving a manual transmission vehicle. Experience with personnel management, supervisory skills and public relations a must. Prefer at least 8 years' experience as Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Technician with emphasis on technical expertise, equipment exposure, management training and computer systems operations. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm, however, flexible/scheduling according to hospital needs is required. Can successfully solve organization-level customer service issues and complaints. Adapt at learning on the job as well as teaching and mentoring others. Must remain insurable under liability insurance policy, i.e. over age 21 and no moving violations. Possess the manual dexterity to safely operate a motor vehicle. Physical Requirements Must have acceptable hearing and corrected, normal color vision. Must have full mobility of arms and legs. Must be able to bend, squat, push, pull or lift at least 50 pounds. Physical health requirements of hearing, seeing, touching and smelling are required in the constant monitoring of utilities, equipment systems and environments as well as detecting problems associated with those areas. Must be able to climb ladders while carrying and balancing tools, assemblies and subassemblies. Duties and Responsibilities Encourages and works towards principles of the highest quality, sets work ethic example to inspire staff for the highest productivity and supervises and oversees personnel for hospital equipment projects. Train subordinate personnel and staff on all types of therapeutic and diagnostic equipment and provide in-service training to staff when required. Coordinates repair, service and staff requirements for maintenance of medical equipment on contract with appropriate vendor through Biomedical screening and telephone communications. Accomplish emergency repairs of equipment on contract (in absence of vendors) to provide uninterrupted service of equipment and systems. Supervises and performs repair, servicing and preventive maintenance on all items of medical equipment not covered by contract, performs work while considering priorities, job costs, schedules, personnel availability and worker qualifications. Prepares documentation for EOC and Safety Committees and availability to attend meetings. Maintains proper integrity and relationships between self and vendors/suppliers/contractors. Complies with Purchase Orders and Limits of Authority policies. Completes work orders in a timely and efficient manner. Documents servicing, preventive maintenance and repair information on work orders, forms and logs. Initiates work orders for recognized deficiencies. Review weekly computerized audit of work order system. Performs all other tasks/responsibilities as necessary.
