Job Description

ONVERA HEALTH
Manager - Oncology Informatics Specialist (ODC/CTR) Greater Houston, TX
  • Full-time
  • Remote / Hybrid
ABOUT ONVERA HEALTH
Onvera Health is an AI-native cancer registry software platform built for community oncology. We automate case abstraction, validate against 450+ SEER
  • Edits, and streamline submissions to state, CoC, and federal cancer programs — all within a single platform.
Our technology integrates with leading oncology EHRs, hospital systems, pathology platforms, and laboratory information systems, giving cancer registrars full data ownership with field-level source citation for every AI-generated abstract. We are a healthcare IT company building software that fundamentally changes how cancer data is collected, validated, and reported. Our team sits at the intersection of clinical oncology knowledge and modern software — and we are growing.
THE ROLE
We are looking for an Oncology Informatics Specialist to join our team. This is a healthcare IT role. You will work alongside our product, engineering, and customer success teams to bridge the gap between oncology domain expertise and software implementation. You will serve as the clinical knowledge base behind our platform — helping configure, validate, and optimize Onvera for customer deployments, testing AI abstraction outputs against real-world oncology data, and translating complex registry standards into product requirements that our engineering team can build. If you understand how cancer registry works and want to apply that knowledge inside a technology company building the next generation of registry software — this role is for you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Support customer implementations of the Onvera platform, configuring workflows to match each site's registry requirements and submission schedules
  • Test and validate AI-generated cancer abstracts against SEER
  • Edits, NAACCR standards, and CoC guidelines — identifying gaps and working with engineering to improve accuracy
  • Serve as the oncology domain expert for internal product and engineering teams, translating clinical requirements into technical specifications
  • Assist customers with data migration, onboarding, and training on the Onvera platform
  • Review and QA platform outputs for accuracy across abstraction, validation, and submission workflows
  • Document oncology data standards, edge cases, and registry rules to support product development and customer documentation
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, sales, and customer success to continuously improve the platform
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Background in cancer registry, oncology data, or health informatics — relevant hands-on experience is equally valued alongside formal education
  • Working knowledge of SEER
  • Edits, NAACCR data standards, and cancer registry submission requirements
  • CTR certification is a strong plus — candidates actively working toward certification are encouraged to apply
  • Experience with oncology or hospital EHR systems (Epic, Ontada, Cerner, or similar)
  • Comfortable working in a software company environment — you do not need to be an engineer, but you should be at ease working closely with technical teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Clear communicator — able to explain complex oncology data concepts to non-clinical stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in health information management, informatics, life sciences, or a related field preferred — equivalent experience will be considered
WHY ONVERA
  • Your clinical knowledge directly shapes a product used by cancer registrars across the country
  • Small, focused team where your contributions are visible and impactful from day one
  • Work at the frontier of AI applied to oncology data quality
  • Remote / hybrid flexibility with a Greater Houston base
  • Competitive compensation, benefits, and the opportunity to grow with an early-stage healthcare technology company Direct contact: hello@onverahealth.
