Job Description:
Provides patient care in the Cardiac Cath Lab suites, Electrophysiology suite, and Cath Prep & Recovery Unit. Works directly with physicians, including EP physicians, cardiologists, and anesthesia, to ensure physician satisfaction, patient experience, and efficient production within the Cardiac Cath Lab. Organizes, staffs, supervises, and evaluates the daily operation of the Cardiac Cath Lab Department, including processing timesheet correction forms and staffing schedules. Acts as a preceptor and role model for employees. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Provides education to patients and their families regarding care before, during, and after procedures. Communicates with the team and cardiologists to maintain patient flow through the Cath Lab, ensuring patient safety. Participates in meetings for efficient facility function, including quality, patient safety, patient experience, safety huddles, productivity, and budgetary concerns. Performs other duties as assigned. Coordinates with the Director/Manager of Cardiovascular Services to meet the needs of both the EP lab and the Cardiac Cath Lab. Participates in the care of patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiac Cath Lab or Electrophysiology lab under the direction of the cardiologist. Reads and interprets patient hemodynamics during procedures and reports changes to the cardiologist. Manages supplies and equipment related to the Cardiac Cath Lab, including ordering and evaluating products necessary for service line maintenance and growth.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • EKG competency required.
  • Knowledge of cardiac anatomy including electrophysiology required.
  • Knowledge of critical care medication required.
  • Able to follow and lead departmental policies and procedures required.
  • Experience with Windows operating system required.
  • Knowledge of all anatomy including circulatory neuro systems required.
  • Responsible to maintain all required registries and licenses to perform all positions for EP procedures required.
  • Able to operate and operate the x-ray equipment. Knowledge of placing service calls required.
  • Able to follow Basic Radiation Safety concepts of time, distance, and shielding to keep exposure levels ALARA for patients and staff required.
  • Able to operate all equipment in Cardiac Cath lab required.
  • Assists in patient flow through the Invasive Cardiology/EP areas required.
  • Assists in training new employees once becoming independent in each position required.
  • Performs properly and legibly documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policies required.
  • Knowledge of supplies/QSite and billing/coding for the Cardiac Cath/EP labs preferred.
  • Able to operate all equipment in various Invasive Cardiology labs preferred.
  • Experience in scrubbing diagnostic and interventional experience preferred.
  • Understanding of hemodynamic monitoring preferred.
  • EKG training preferred.

  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Required]
