Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation) Educator to join our healthcare team. Offering a $20k sign on bonus with relocation assistance up to $7k in relocation assistance and a strong pension plan. This vital role involves providing comprehensive training, education, and support to clinical staff and patients regarding ECMO procedures, equipment, and patient management. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in critical care, physiology, and medical terminology, ensuring the safe and effective use of ECMO technology across diverse clinical settings. This position offers an opportunity to influence patient outcomes positively through expert education and collaborative practice. Responsibilities Develop and deliver training programs for healthcare professionals on ECMO device operation, patient monitoring, and emergency procedures. Assist in the setup, calibration, and troubleshooting of ECMO equipment to ensure optimal functionality. Conduct data collection and analysis to evaluate training effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Support inventory management by tracking ECMO supplies and DME (Durable Medical Equipment), ensuring availability and proper storage. Educate staff on infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterile processing related to ECMO procedures. Monitor patient vital signs, physiological responses, and overall condition during ECMO therapy to ensure safety. Provide guidance on medication administration, IV infusion, venipuncture, IV insertion, and injection techniques pertinent to ECMO patients. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance understanding of cardiac catheterization, catheterization procedures, and anatomy relevant to ECMO support. Promote adherence to hospital policies on infection prevention, sterile technique, and acute care protocols. Maintain detailed documentation of training sessions, patient interactions, and equipment maintenance activities. Requirements Minimum of two years' hospital experience in critical care units such as ICU or cardiac care units. Proficiency in data collection, inventory control, and medical device management. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, cardiac catheterization procedures, and medical terminology. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are preferred. Hands-on experience with IV insertion, venipuncture, medication administration, and IV infusion techniques. Familiarity with infection control standards and aseptic techniques within a hospital environment. Demonstrated analysis skills for evaluating patient data and training outcomes. Ability to effectively monitor vital signs and respond promptly to acute care situations involving pediatric or adult patients. Excellent communication skills for educating staff across diverse disciplines on complex medical concepts related to ECMO therapy.
