Full-time Summary:
This position is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment and for performing diagnostic examinations using sonography according to established policies and procedures. The Cardiac Sonographer can perform accurate and efficient ultrasound examinations, specifically echocardiogram studies to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac conditions. Prefer training in vascular and/or general ultrasound studies. The Sonographer must demonstrate good clinical skills and provide the best possible images for interpretation. Must always maintain a high standard of medical ethics and be self-motivated to increase levels of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease and new procedures as they evolve.
Essential Duties:
Verify patient identification and physician order Clarify orders with ordering physician or their staff when necessary Accurately and efficiently use EMR for verifying orders, viewing schedules Monitor schedule for patients to be checked in and retrieve patients from waiting room in a timely manner Perform ultrasound examinations using appropriate methods for patient's age, physical ability and/or limitations Monitor patients during procedures to ensure patient safety Proficiently operate ultrasound imaging equipment and perform necessary quality control and quality assurance testing Ensure prompt electronic submission of high-quality images and documents to PACS Ensure STAT requests are relayed to radiologists in a timely manner Ensure equipment is sanitized between patients and exam room is clean and properly stocked Appropriately interact and communicate with medical staff, management and support staff to provide the best possible care for patients
Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma Certificate of Completion from an accredited Sonography Program RDMS registration preferred
License/Certification:
BLS Certification (Preferred) RCS or RDCS Certification (Required) ARRT Certification (Preferred) RVT Certification (Preferred)
General Requirements:
Computer proficiency is a must Ability to work independently and solve problems Excellent communication and patient care skills Ability to work well in a high volume, fast paced environment Ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and work as part of a team Minimum one or more years of experience in clinical diagnostic ultrasound preferred.
