JOB RELATIONSHIPS

Responsible to: Radiology Director and Cath Lab Supervisor

DEFINITION OF POSITION

Cardiac Catheterization Technologist will perform a variety of technical and supportive patient care tasks to assist physicians in performing complex and invasive cardiac catheterization procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Professional Completion of two years of formal Radiologic Technology training Completion of one year of Special Procedures/Cardiac Cath training ACLS certification within 3 months of employment and annually thereafter required One year experience as a Cardiac Cath Technologist Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Current AHA BLS certification required Completion of two years of formal Radiologic Technology training; and/or RCIS. Personal Must be able to effectively communicate with patients, physicians and staff. Works effectively with others, possessing tact, discretion, and diplomacy. Possesses the ability to lift and transport radiologic equipment and patients. Must be able to work near blood, bodily fluids and a strong magnetic field. Physical Stamina -Capable of sitting/standing/walking for long periods of time. Strength - Possesses the ability to lift and transport radiologic equipment and patients.

Reflexes/Agility -Minimally capable of:

Stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending. Responding quickly and effectively to emergencies, i.e. fire. Hearing and Visual Acuity Capable of hearing and responding to patients and staff with inquiries. Visual acuity that permits reading, writing, monitoring office equipment, i.e., computers, copy machines. Dexterity - Hand dexterity permitting efficient operation of office machines i.e., computers, copy machines, and writing skills to facilitate documentation of messages, correspondence, etc.
