Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist (Per Diem)

Perform cardiac diagnostic sonographic examinations, to record pertinent anatomical, pathological and functional data on patients and prepare test data for interpretation by physicians.

Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. Graduate of an approved Cardiovascular training program. RCT registered or eligible preferred. BLS certification. One year experience in all phases of echocardiography testing. Telephone, copier, fax machine, computer, and printer operation. Echocardiographic ultrasound machine, vascular ultrasound machine, PVR, various computer systems, PACS, wheelchairs, stretchers

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

Assume on-call as needed, Strong basic medical knowledge, with emphasis on cardiac ultrasound and cardiology, Good communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, Ability to work independently, capable of supervising and prioritizing in a fast paced environment. Ability to participate intra- and inter-departmental activities and perform in a team environment.

Working Conditions:

General diagnostic high volume, high stress environment Extensive employee and outside contacts Works indoors in a well lighted and ventilated area Some direct exposure to contagions and chemicals, but risk is minimal when proper safety precautions are observed Willingness to work with realization that errors and incompetence may have serious consequences to patients

Physical Demands:

Long periods of sitting with frequent standing or moving to other areas Constant verbal communication in person or using the phone Frequent reading of physician orders, prescriptions and medical records Bending, lifting, pushing and lifting heavy objects occurs occasionally Transporting patients or equipment as needed
