Monitor Technician:
Responsibilities Provide advanced ECG monitoring with a focus on assessment of ECG strips and arrhythmia interpretation. May also be responsible for monitoring alerts from patient wearable devices, including escalation to a Virtual RN. Possess troubleshooting skills to recognize monitoring problems, identify probable causes, and seek solutions to correct the problem. Identify and respond to potentially life-threatening rhythm changes, initiate codes, record rhythms during code, continuous EKG monitoring with accurate interpretation of cardiac rhythms and dysrhythmias, and interval measurements. Appropriately respond to all monitor alarms. Must be able to manage multiple technology platforms and develop collaborative relationships with other staff via remote platforms.
Qualifications Job Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Skilled in a variety of software applications. Must complete the cardiac monitoring exam. Ability to demonstrate arrhythmia recognition. BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
Preferred Job Requirements:
Associate's degree in a related field. One (1) year in the specialty area, rhythm recognition skill set.
