Summary:
Provides advanced technical and direct patient care support during diagnostic and interventional procedures in the Cardiovascular Lab. Assists the Department Director in planning, coordinating, and overseeing departmental operations, financial performance, and personnel activities. Responsibilities:
Performs advanced cardiovascular laboratory functions, independently serving in scrub, monitor/recording, and, upon obtaining RCIS certification within one year of hire, circulator roles for a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures, including Adult Cardiac Catheterization, Vascular, Cardiac Devices, Electrophysiology, Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization, Neuro Intervention, and Structural Heart services. Provides clinical leadership and serves as a Daily Team Lead, ensuring procedural readiness, operational efficiency, accurate medication administration, charge capture, case documentation, reporting accuracy, and compliance with departmental, hospital, and regulatory requirements. Leads and supports assigned service lines or specialty programs by developing strategic plans, monitoring performance metrics, managing quality improvement initiatives, and coordinating resources to achieve operational and clinical goals. Functions as a clinical expert and resource for staff, providing education, orientation, training, mentoring, and ongoing professional development while supporting the implementation of new technologies, procedures, and equipment. Oversees service-specific supply and equipment management, including inventory control, equipment maintenance, purchasing recommendations, and ensuring procedural areas remain safe, clean, and fully operational. Ensures compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and local, state, and federal regulations related to patient care, documentation, infection prevention, radiation safety, environmental safety, and quality assurance. Responds effectively to emergent situations, assessing and interpreting patient data to provide age-appropriate care for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations. Develops, tracks, analyzes, and reports quality, operational, and service line indicators to support continuous improvement and departmental performance objectives. Serves as a subject matter expert, super user, or departmental officer for designated programs, technologies, safety initiatives, radiation protection, wellness, or specialty service areas. Supports departmental operations through participation in shared governance activities, collaboration with leadership and physicians, maintenance of positive customer relationships, and, when assigned, assumes coordinator responsibilities in the absence of department leadership. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, disease processes, diagnostic and interventional procedures, quality management principles, operational processes, budgeting, and advanced troubleshooting required to support a complex cardiovascular care environment. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology, Cardiopulmonary Technology, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Paramedicine, or Surgical Technology (Surgical Technology certificate must be from a program of at least one year in duration). Three (3) years of directly related experience may be substituted for the degree requirement. Minimum of one (1) year of experience in an adult cardiac catheterization laboratory, including diagnostic and interventional procedures with demonstrated proficiency in scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, and recording responsibilities. RCIS or RCES certification required. Candidates must be registered for the applicable certification examination within the required timeframe and obtain certification within established departmental guidelines. Electrophysiology-focused positions may require RCES certification. Current ACLS certification required within six (6) months of hire. PALS certification is required for Presbyterian Downtown positions. Demonstrated knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, and the principles of cardiovascular diagnostic and interventional procedures and technologies.
