Job Description

Essential Functions:
Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that are performed with or without reasonable accommodation. Provides technical support for all Cath Lab procedures to include: catheterizations, angioplasty, structural heart procedures, peripheral angiography and angioplasty, temp pacemaker insertion and LV assist device insertions. Responsible for technical support and clinical assistance, both sterile and nonsterile, of procedures including: catheterizations, angioplasty, structural heart procedures, peripheral angiography and angioplasty, temp pacemaker insertion and LV assist device insertions. Operates required advanced imaging equipment using established guidelines and imaging protocols for interventional and noninterventional patient procedures. Ensures proper safety standards are met and radiation safety practices are adhered to. Instructs students and residents and performs preceptor duties when necessary. Performs quality assurance checks on equipment. Assists in maintaining supply inventory for all Cath Lab procedures. Demonstrates working knowledge of UHS information systems. Demonstrates knowledge of coding procedures for accurate billing of all Cath Lab procedures Learns new techniques and technology by attending lectures, seminars, and educational readings.

Education/Experience Minimum Required:
Associates degree in Radiologic Technology Two (2) years of experience in full services hospital as a Radiologic Technologist.
Preferred:
Previous experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a
Cardiac Cath Lab License/Certification Minimum Required:
New York State license as
Radiologic Technologist Preferred:
Not Applicable Work Environment All work is performed in the department which consists of the Cardiac Cath Lab. These rooms are air conditioned as well as heated, areas are occasionally subject to fumes. Delivery of services is through the use of radiation to produce images for physician diagnosis readings, and intervention on cardiac procedures. Standing for long periods. PPE (Eyewear, Masks, Face shields, Shoe covers, and Gloves) as required by UHS Hospitals Infection Control policies. Lead protection devices, barriers, gloves, lead glasses, shields, and aprons must be worn per radiation safety policies.
