Interventional Vascular Technologist - Cardiac Cath Lab

Interventional Vascular Technologists are specialized Interventional Radiologists that support the most cutting-edge therapies offered at Cleveland Clinic. In this role, you will assist physicians with minimally invasive, image-guided vascular procedures, including angioplasty, stenting and thrombolysis. You will use fluoroscopic equipment to capture images of blood vessels. By doing so, you will be able to intervene on a patient's potential heart blockages that could cause a heart attack, leading to saving their lives. Taking on this opportunity will not only allow you to advance your skills but can also lead to cross-training in Electrophysiology and additional educational training.

• A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM - 5:30PM or 7:30AM - 6:00PM, with on-call requirements.
• A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Utilize sterile or aseptic techniques to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional and surgical procedures per protocol.

+ Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation. + Ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams. + Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects. + Sets-up or operate injector to administer contrast agents for procedures and manually inject contrast agent if no pressure injector is utilized. + Operate ancillary equipment adherent to specific procedures. + Check and prepare patients prior to Vascular-Interventional study. + Screen patients for ability to undergo procedure by understanding baseline lab requirements. + Position patients to obtain radiographic exposure. + Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS. + Complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork. + Report malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator. + Process billing via RIS. + Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information. + Monitor equipment, systems, clean equipment, and effects timely repair. + Learn new technical information and skills through attendance of periodic in-service programs and participation in professional affiliation sessions. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology + Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists R.T.(R) (ARRT) and in good standing + Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist + Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross + Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy + Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + One year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist + Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiology R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT) + Experience in high volume angiography department

• Physical Requirements:

• + Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. + Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

• + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
• Pay Range
• Minimum hourly: $31.
