Description Job Summary:
A Senior Cardiac Pacer-ICD Technician working in the Adult Cardiology Practice works under the supervision of the cardiology physicians and reports directly to the Nurse Manager or Regional Manager of the department. Must be able to identify arrhythmias and respond per department guidelines including making clinical judgements per national standards and within scope of practice. Interrogates implantable cardiac devices including retrieving clinical data, trouble shooting of devices to ensure proper functionality, generating a summary report, and scheduling a follow up visit. Performs Pacemaker/ICD checks in office. Remote monitoring of devices including Linq and Loop Recorders and other implantable devices. The Senior Cardiac Pacer-ICD Technician will also perform post-operative wound checks with initial interrogation and report any abnormalities to practitioner. Provides device-related education to patients during their initial post-op visit as well. This position may occasionally act as back up for the Cardiac Device Tech. This position is involved in a team-based approach to care. Team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role as per the State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to coordinate care for patients and is trained and assigned to support patients/families/caregivers in self-management, self-efficacy and behavior change. Is trained and assigned (as per their role and responsibilities) to manage the practices' patient population. Participates in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.
Education:
Required:
High School Graduate or equivalent.
Preferred:
BA or BS Degree Experience:
Required:
Minimum 2 years' experience interrogating devices. Experience with one or more of the following: PaceArt, Optival, Biotronic, Medtronic, Boston Scientific, and St. Jude programming required.
Preferred:
Pacemaker/ICD programming experience Epic EMR experience Position Requirement(s):
License/Certification/Registration Required:
Meet the specific competency requirements for Senior Cardiac Pacer-ICD Technician and must pass the initial arrhythmia course with 90% accuracy within 90 days of employment and maintain a 90% passing rate with yearly credentialing. Must obtain Pacemaker/ICD programming certification within 12 months of hire.

The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the department policies and procedures.
