PVL Technologist Chesapeake Regional Medical Center - 2.9 Chesapeake, VA Job Details 1 day ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Arterial Doppler studies Customer communication Anatomy knowledge BLS Certification Employee relationship building Vascular technology diagnostics Vascular ultrasound machine Computer skills Full Job Description Summary The Peripheral Vascular Laboratory Technologist is responsible for performing studies, including arterial and venous duplex imaging with color-flow Doppler, non-invasive atrial testing (pulse volume recording and segmental limb pressures), visceral abdominal duplex imaging with color-flow Doppler, extracranial arterial duplex imaging with color-flow Doppler, and other non-invasive vascular tests. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collect available data, making knowledgeable interpretations and appropriate diagnoses Initiate and update the standards of care within established time frames Routinely utilize this plan as a basis for care and documentation Plan, document, and provide individual patient/family teaching and evaluate understanding Perform continual data collection, storage, and submission duties, as well as ongoing program maintenance for the certification process The certification process requires continual data collection and analysts, as well as process improvement/quality improvement commitment to ensure that JCAHO standards are being met consistently Serve as a liaison between the physician, bedside nurse, primary team, and the ICU/OR team, fostering communication, education, and expedited critical decision making to improve patient outcomes Provide superior customer service to internal and external clients and patients Demonstrate efficiency in prioritizing patient needs Accurately verify orders Demonstrate consistent ability and competence in patient care areas Function independently with most procedures and protocols, except for those which require assisting a physician Recognize limitations and seek the appropriate assistance when needed Demonstrate an ability to respond to emergency situations Document patient care per hospital policy Provide a safe environment for patients and visitors Contribute to the reduction of infections through adherence to infection control guidelines Foster a spirit of teamwork within assigned areas Participate in quality improvement activities within unit Ensure office and patient care area is well stocked with necessary equipment that is properly functioning Display and utilize good verbal and nonverbal communication skills by listening carefully, asking appropriate questions, and comprehending pertinent issues Project professional and positive communication skills to all customers Demonstrate the ability to work efficiently, with a high level of productivity, and complete assignments within the departmental time restraints Rotate call coverage Implement data extraction and quality assurance according to hospital policies and procedures Ensure compliance with departmental policies and procedures Establish a courteous rapport with patients and families Effectively evaluate the patient for prescribed testing Correctly complete patient's medical history for interpreting physician Perform all studies offered in the Peripheral Vascular Lab within 90 days of start date: Ensure that equipment is calibrated and operational, troubleshooting any malfunctioning equipment or computer terminals by making minor repairs Provide support to staff to ensure competency in all phases of vascular diagnostic services Participate in the planning and implementation of projects for improving organizational performance Assist the Lead Technologist with the daily operations of the Peripheral Vascular Lab Report critical test results to the interpreting physician Foster a healthy, collaborative, and open work environment that is conductive to teamwork and encourages communication Follow all administrative protocols Utilize effective problem solving and communication skills, such as conflict resolution and negotiating skills Maintain positive, constructive employee relations Proactively deal with workplace conflicts in a timely manner Evaluate data and information as needed to meet the expected outcomes of the department Evaluate data, laboratory values, diagnostic testing results, and interventional procedural reports and provide the appropriate information to provide an accurate diagnostic test for the physician to report Perform other tasks as assigned Summary of Other Job Duties and Expectations Adhere to the Service Excellence Standards and Expectations at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center Exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers Exhibit courteous communication skills and an ability to work with others, exercising good judgment in performance of job duties Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect to others in adherence of the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting positive work and customer environments Work as a team to continuously improve work quality Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work schedules when it is necessary to ensure patient care Present self in a positive manner as reflected by personal attire and etiquette Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services Supervisory Responsibilities Reports to:

Education and Experience Minimum Required Education:
Graduation from an accredited Allied Health program with specific emphasis in
Peripheral Vascular Ultrasound Preferred Education:
Associates degree or higher
Experience:
2+ years in a Peripheral Vascular Lab to include a strong working knowledge of vascular anatomy, knowledge of Doppler and Ultrasound physics, and various computer programs pertinent to the performance of job duties. Employee should be competent in position within 90-days of employment. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Applicants must be ARDMS, RVT or RVS registered; if registry eligible, applicant must obtain credentials within 12 months of hire. BLS certification is required.
