Position Statement Performs Echocardiography examinations on adult patients for subsequent evaluation and treatment by physician. Prepare, operates, and maintains equipment. Prepares patients room and maintains adequate supplies and mediations. Participate in patient education, works cooperatively with another patient team.
Key Responsibilities:
Performs echocardiography procedures for outpatients and inpatients. Assist the administrative staff with scheduling cases to coordinate with other patient examinations. Transports, transfers, and positions patients in accordance with hospital policy. Performs mobile Echocardiography procedures as requested. Provides the patients with appropriate information relating to the procedure being performed. Records images with appropriate procedural data and patient identification. Selects appropriate technical factors for each patient. Selects and operates equipment as directed. Notifies Practice Manager and Echo Tech Director. Assists radiologist or attending physician with administering IV contrast or medicines during minor surgical procedures. Performs injections for enhanced imagine. Obtains minimum CEU's necessary to maintain registrations with the RDMS or another regulatory agency. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Typing and computer skills. Must be RDMS registered or registry eligible in Echocardiography. Must be capable of working without supervision and within the guidelines established by the Practice Manager. Consideration will be given to individuals who are registry eligible and have completed an AMA approved program in Echocardiography and Diagnostic Ultrasound or at a minimum completed 12 months of on-the-job sonographic experience. Essential is the ability to maintain a positive attitude while integrating and closing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing as circumstances indicate or as requested by the Practice Manager. Individual must be ethical, honest, and responsible. Strives to be a productive member of the department and the organization and always puts time to good use; seeks out work to be done and is always willing to help co-workers. Ability to follow NCH's standards of behavior.
