Job Description

Job Summary The Cath Lab Radiology Technologist performs a wide range of specialized diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. This role delivers high‑quality patient care across all age groups while utilizing advanced imaging equipment, maintaining radiation safety standards, and supporting the clinical team during invasive procedures. The technologist will monitor hemodynamics, scrub and circulate procedures, and accurately document imaging and procedural data. The position requires maintaining all licensure requirements, completing ongoing competency assessments, and participating in department quality initiatives. Responsibilities Independently perform cardiovascular imaging procedures. Select and operate imaging equipment; position and prepare patients for optimal imaging results. Apply radiation protection principles and maintain compliance with ALARA standards. Assist physicians with diagnostic and interventional procedures using proper sterile and aseptic techniques. Prepare, administer, and document contrast media and medications as permitted by state statutes and institutional policies. Perform angiographic procedures at a technical level under physician direction. Remove vascular sheaths, apply pressure, and monitor access sites for complications with appropriate education. Assist in cross-training staff in electrophysiology protocols and procedures as assigned. Prepare, operate, and maintain equipment used for contrast administration, patient monitoring, and procedural intervention. Recognize and identify coronary anatomy and related anatomical structures on imaging systems. Demonstrate understanding of moderate sedation and anesthesia practices. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact) The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients. Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist.
