Job Description

Job Summary Provision of assistance to the operating room staff and to the needs of the physician in providing patient care under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse. Surgical Technologist - In this role, you will support surgeons and the perioperative team by preparing sterile fields, managing surgical instruments, and anticipating procedural needs—all while ensuring a safe, patient-centered surgical experience in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Assist the operating room team by preparing the OR suite for surgical procedures in a timely manner. Practice aseptic and sterile techniques. Apply appropriate cleaning techniques in the operating room. Participate during the course of the procedure by handing instruments and supplies to the surgeon. Assist with applying the dressing to the incision. Clean and restock the room assigned. Assist with in-service and training of new personnel. Take call as assigned. Prepare procedure rooms with appropriate sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies Maintain strict aseptic technique throughout surgical procedures Anticipate surgeon needs and pass instruments and supplies efficiently Operate and handle surgical equipment safely and competently Collaborate with procedural team(s) and holding area staff Follow OSHA, DNV, AORN, and departmental standards Promote patient safety and quality care in every procedure Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instrumentation, and sterile technique Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Excellent attention to detail and anticipation skills Commitment to patient safety and surgical excellence Must be able to multi-task Surgical Technologist ladder- Level I-graduate of a surgical technology program Level II- Surgical Technologist Certification Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Patient Group Knowledge (Only applies to positions with direct patient contact) The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients. Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist. Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization. 8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable. 9.
