Job Description:
Job purpose The Cellular Therapy Coordinator is a clinical role responsible for the comprehensive coordination, implementation, and oversight of the outpatient cellular therapy program. The Cellular Therapy Coordinator serves as the primary clinical resource and patient liaison throughout the entire cellular therapy continuum—from pre-therapy workup through long-term follow-up—while partnering with multidisciplinary team members to ensure safe, high-quality, evidence-based care. Essential Job Functions Establish, implement, and maintain evidence-based protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and clinical pathways specific to outpatient bispecific T cell therapy and CAR-T therapy administration. Serve as the cellular therapy program's operational lead, ensuring regulatory compliance with applicable quality and accreditation standards. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, data collection, and outcomes reporting for the cellular therapy program. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of FDA-approved and investigational cellular therapies, including product-specific REMS requirements. Maintain a comprehensive, real-time patient tracking system covering all phases: referral, evaluation, insurance authorization, leukapheresis, manufacturing, bridging therapy, lymphodepletion, infusion, and follow-up. Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to complete pre-treatment assessments to evaluate patient candidacy. Provide patient education and support prior to treatment initiation. Triage urgent patient calls and concerns, applying clinical judgment to determine appropriate interventions or escalation. Monitor patients for therapy-related toxicities. Facilitate timely access to emergency evaluation, hospitalization, or ICU-level care when clinically indicated. Manage post-therapy monitoring schedules and ensure completion of required follow-up laboratory and imaging studies. Design and maintain competency assessments, simulation training, and skills validation for clinical staff. Provide onboarding education for new staff joining the cellular therapy program. Serve as an internal clinical expert and resource for questions related to cellular therapy management. Qualifications Must have strong attention to detail. Must be able to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner. Must be able to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Education/Experience Must have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing; Master's degree in Nursing preferred. Must hold an active Alabama RN license. Must have ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Provider Certification; ONCC Oncology Certified Nurse is preferred. Must have at least (5) years of nursing experience with at least (3) years of oncology nursing experience.
Working conditions:
This position works in the nursing/patient care department of a busy oncology/hematology clinic. Direct patient contact is required. This position works in a busy, fast-paced environment with a moderate noise level.
Physical requirements:
This position requires the employee be able to stand and walk for up to eight hours a day on some days, as well as be able to sit at a computer for up to eight hours a day on some days, depending on the tasks that need to be finished. Direct reports This position is not a supervisory position.
