Full-Time Dental Insurance Coordinator Location:
Indio, CA 92201 Our busy and patient-focused dental practice is seeking a mature, organized, and detail-oriented Dental Insurance Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, excellent customer service abilities, and working knowledge of dental insurance terminology, verification processes, and billing coordination. This position plays a critical role in ensuring patients understand their dental benefits while supporting efficient treatment planning and front-office operations. Position Summary The Dental Insurance Coordinator is responsible for verifying patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to scheduled appointments to ensure accurate treatment estimates and financial coordination. This position serves as a liaison between patients, insurance carriers, and the dental team to help create a smooth and informed patient experience. Key Responsibilities Insurance Verification & Coordination Verify patient dental insurance eligibility through insurance portals and carrier communication Confirm benefit details including deductibles, annual maximums, frequencies, waiting periods, exclusions, and limitations Obtain and accurately document benefit breakdowns for major dental procedures including crowns, root canals, dentures, implants, periodontal treatment, and orthodontics Enter verified insurance information into the practice management software accurately and timely Maintain updated records regarding insurance plan changes, terminations, and eligibility status Update and maintain HMO rosters and active patient lists Patient Communication Educate patients regarding their dental insurance benefits and estimated out-of-pocket expenses Communicate insurance limitations, missing information, or eligibility concerns prior to appointments Provide professional and compassionate customer service while addressing patient questions related to insurance coverage and treatment estimates Administrative & Team Support Work closely with the front office, treatment coordinators, and billing department to support scheduling and case presentation Assist in maintaining accurate patient documentation and insurance records Stay informed regarding changes to dental insurance policies, CDT coding updates, and carrier guidelines Support overall office operations as needed Job duties and responsibilities may be modified as business needs require. Qualifications Previous dental insurance verification experience preferred Knowledge of dental insurance billing and terminology required Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced dental environment Professional demeanor and team-oriented attitude Familiarity with dental practice management software preferred Schedule Full-Time Approximately 36-40 hours per week Monday-Thursday 8-5pm Friday 7-2 pm Compensation & Benefits Competitive pay: $18-$20 per hour depending on experience Health Insurance Vision Insurance Dental Benefits 401(k) Paid Holidays Paid Time Off Employee-paid supplemental pre-tax insurance options Incentive programs and additional benefits Our practice offers a positive team atmosphere, supportive leadership, and a patient-first philosophy.
