Job Description

Service Coordinator - Independent Living Housing Facility for the Elderly (Contracted Position) 10hrs/week •This is a contracted 1099 position• Position Description To work with elderly (and/or disabled) residents who disrupt the comfort and well-being of other elderly residents or the peace and tranquility of the facility. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: Assisting and encouraging disruptive residents to seek appropriate professional help such as medical, psychiatric, or nursing care. Working with other residents who are adversely affected by disruptive residents (to make them more accepting and understanding). Working with families of disruptive residents and working with families of those adversely affected by disruptive residents, to relieve tensions in the building. Persuading those who are frail and no longer able to appropriately care for themselves to find more suitable living arrangements and, if necessary, assisting them in the relocation process. Convincing those who are not frail but are causing disruptions (such as intimidating other residents, making excessive noise, harboring cockroaches, or engaging in other antisocial behavior) to either modify their behavior or to find more suitable housing. Working with medical, psychiatric, and other professionals to help these professionals understand the problems caused by the disruptive residents they serve and to encourage them to intervene as appropriate. Instructing building staff in techniques for dealing with difficult residents. Perform annual HUD Standards for Success (SfS) and submit reporting annually Successful candidates must be able to relate well to seniors, their families, the medical community, and community agencies. Must be resourceful and creative in dealing with problems. Must be persistent, especially when the resident does not recognize he or she needs assistance. (Contracted Position) 10hrs/week •This is a contracted 1099 position• Requirements The time required at the building is approximately 10 hours per week Experience working with Seniors and/or people with disabilities is a must. Bilingual Spanish Preferred. Social Work Experience Preferred
