Job Description

MAIN FUNCTION
Under the direction of the Dialysis Director, coordinate Social Work, Dietary Services and Clerical/Registration duties of the dialysis unit. Registers and schedules the dialysis patients for treatments, appointments and procedures.
REPORTS TO
: Director of Dialysis Services
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Practice/Efficiency 1. Act as a receptionist for the dialysis patients, which includes, but not limited to, greet visitors, provide directions, refer questions to appropriate person. a. Check Patients in/out for their dialysis appointments. b. Maintain attendance roles for patients c. Make sure patients are aware of any schedule changes. d. Print Daily stickers for patients. e. Ordering and taking care of supplies for the Unit as needed and assigned. f. IT liaison for minor computer issues g. Post monthly provider schedule and QAPI schedules. 2. Schedules ancillary appointments and assists with establishing a daily schedule to maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction. a. Set up IR appointments. b. Set up travel arrangements at other Dialysis Facilities for Noyes Patients that are traveling. Communicate this information to Patient/Care giver. c. Schedule patient transportation needs as requested by the Social Worker. d. Obtaining Dietary information and providing hand outs to patients as requested by the Dietitian. e. Send referrals for transplant and track Access and Transplant status of Noyes Patients. 3. Develop and maintain a complete and accurate patient information file a. Keep track of immunizations (for new patients, contact primary care for them) b. Verification of insurance. Obtaining Authorizations for VA patients as well as other insurances that require it. c. Keep track of care plans and send to appropriate staff on a monthly basis. d. Make sure H & P's are up to date. 4. Provide statistical information, as assigned. a. Insert data into EQRS and NHSN (CDC website) b. Monthly IPRO data collection and surveys c. Attends all ISD meetings to improve Epic in Dialysis d. Scan and send Pharmacy temperature logs monthly. e. Collect Labs and data for monthly QAPI meetings. f. Complete dialysis census forms and HD events monthly, forward to Infection Prevention and input into NHSN website. 5. Demonstrate customer-focused, respectful, responsive attitude at all times when dealing with patients, families, physicians and hospital and office staff. a. Answer the telephone(s) and intercom(s) in a timely manner. b.

Relay messages accurately to the appropriate person(s). c..Unit liaison with Livingston County Maintenance. Communication 1. Communicate with all customers in a professional manner. 2. Communicate frequently with various members of the health care team to enhance patient care and efficiency, and to promote a harmonious, team-spirited atmosphere. 3. Assure that stat communications occur immediately. 4. Attend and participate in staff meetings on a regular basis and other meetings, as assigned. a. Keep all policy and procedures up to date with the newest information. b. Remind staff of Policy and Procedure updates. 5. Make sure provider's orders are communicated to staff. 6. Publish a monthly newsletter. Performance Improvement 1. Anticipate the needs of the customers (both internal and external) and deliver the service that meet or exceed the customer's expectations. 2. Participate in quality improvement activities, as needed. Professional Growth/Learning 1. Assume responsibility for own knowledge development by attending job-related in-services, workshops and conferences. 2. Participate in the orientation of new staff, as assigned. 3. Cross-orient to other areas and float, as needed. Resource Utilization 1. Participate in economical utilization of supplies. 2. Strive to enhance personal organization skills and unit-based efficiency to optimize constructive use of resources. 3. Establish and maintain a neat and orderly desk area. 4. Respond to Hospital Codes as assigned. 5. Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
A.A. Degree in Business/Health-Related field or equivalent experience in a health care setting required
EXPERIENCE
Secretarial experience in a Healthcare Organization or Physician practice with some medical billing preferred Computer experience required with experience in Microsoft Office Word and Excel and Meditech preferred.
CONTACTS
: Frequent with patients, families, physicians, office staff, nurses, and other hospital personnel.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
: Sitting at a desk using a keyboard much of the shift. Walking to various locations throughout the building.
WORKING CONDITIONS/HAZARDS
: Exposed to psychological stresses associated with multiple demands and those of dealing with patients and families coping with a chronic pain situation. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases.
PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS
: None required unless otherwise mandated by a Department of Health or the Hospital. •Job descriptions are reviewed on an annual basis. Revisions/additions may be made as a result of this review process.
Pay:
$19.30 - $25.96 per hour
