Position Overview:
The Commissioning Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating on‑site commissioning activities to ensure safe, efficient, and aligned execution, particularly when commissioning scope is large or complex. This role serves as the primary point of contact for all commissioning personnel and acts as the central coordination and communication hub for commissioning activities on site. The Commissioning Coordinator holds overall authority for the coordination of commissioning execution, ensuring compliance with company, customer, and EHS requirements while supporting project handover readiness. This role requires consistent field presence at project sites to ensure effective coordination and execution of commissioning activities.
Essential Responsibilities:
Manage and coordinate all on‑site commissioning parties and activities to ensure safe, efficient, and aligned execution, particularly for large or complex commissioning scopes
Serve as the primary point of contact for all commissioning employees, including company commissioning staff, engineering personnel, and commissioning contractors
Work closely with the designated work preparator to create, track, and close MyPlant events (including warranty‑related events), ensuring correct cost center allocation and satisfactory closure
Maintain responsibility for all on‑site warranty events during the commissioning phase; may delegate specific tasks to technicians for training purposes while retaining full accountability
Organize and lead daily commissioning meetings (start‑of‑work and end‑of‑work), acting as meeting owner and decision‑maker when commissioning activities overlap or conflict
Escalate non‑attendance, resourcing gaps, or capability issues to line management in a timely manner
Monitor, justify, and approve commissioning resource labor hours within defined authority limits
Manage company‑supplied tooling used for commissioning activities, ensuring secure on‑site storage, controlled distribution, and return to the Tooling Center
Maintain and update the daily commissioning log, ensuring accurate record‑keeping and traceability
Represent the commissioning scope in daily customer and stakeholder meetings, providing clear status updates and supporting decision‑making
Act as the central communication hub for all commissioning‑related coordination, instructions, and updates
Own the coordination of commissioning activities onsite, including directing and enforcing reasonable instructions to ensure safe and efficient progress
Provide regular progress reporting on commissioning scope, milestones, risks, and issues
Ensure full compliance with all company and customer EHS rules, policies, and standards at all times
Liaise closely with the Site Manager, customer representatives, and all commissioning parties to ensure smooth execution and alignment
Own and manage all site commissioning documentation, ensuring completeness, accuracy, quality, and timely submission
Lead and manage the company warranty process during the commissioning phase, including evidence gathering, reporting, and case submission
Support handover readiness by ensuring all commissioning documentation, punch lists, and closeout requirements are completed
Identify opportunities for improving commissioning processes and implement best practices
Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in reciprocating engine technology and commissioning techniques
Performs other duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity
Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of five (5) years of experience coordinating or leading on-site commissioning activities, preferably for complex or large projects
Proven experience coordinating cross‑functional teams in a complex, operational environment
ground in mechanical or technical disciplines with working knowledge of engine parts and systems; experience with natural gas compression engines is preferred.
Experience working with commissioning documentation, reporting, and tracking systems (e.g., MyPlant or similar tools)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Ability to travel frequently to project sites as needed to support commissioning activities and may involve short- or extended-duration assignments based on project requirements
Valid driver's license
Legally authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of commissioning processes, site coordination, and execution workflows
Ability to lead meetings, make decisions, and provide clear direction in a dynamic site environment
Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with technicians, engineers, management, customers, and on‑site teams
Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve escalations and implement process improvements that ensure compliance and operational efficiency
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team, including effective coordination with cross-functional teams
Working knowledge of EHS requirements applicable to site‑based commissioning activities
Ability to work for extended periods on active project and commissioning sites, including navigating industrial or construction environments with stairs and uneven surfaces
Ability to stand, sit, bend, and move between work areas as required during daily commissioning activities
Ability to lift or move items up to 25 pounds (e.g., tools, documentation, or equipment)
Ability to work outdoors and in varying environmental conditions common to commissioning sites
Sufficient visual acuity
