Full-Time Help Patients Navigate Their Care with Confidence At Uvalde Memorial Hospital, we understand that compassionate support and clear communication can make all the difference in a patient's healthcare journey. We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Referral and Authorization Coordinator to join our Clinics team and help ensure patients receive the care they need without unnecessary delays. This role is more than scheduling appointments and processing referrals — it's about guiding patients through the healthcare process with kindness, professionalism, and exceptional service every step of the way.
In This Role, You Will:
Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and scheduling for procedures, specialist visits, and follow-up care. Communicate with patients, providers, and outside agencies to ensure smooth coordination of services. Keep patients informed about referral and authorization status, appointment details, and financial responsibilities. Obtain insurance authorizations and ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and efficiently. Prioritize urgent requests and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment. Research specialty providers and insurance participation to help patients access the appropriate care quickly. Maintain thorough documentation throughout the referral and authorization process. Provide compassionate customer service while supporting both patients and healthcare teams.
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous medical office experience preferred. Experience with referrals, insurance verification, and authorizations preferred. Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients and providers. Highly organized with excellent multitasking and problem-solving abilities. Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Outlook proficiency. Bilingual skills are a plus.
