Job Description

Job Summary The Recovery Care Coordinator (RCC) in the U.S. Marine Corps Wounded Warrior Regiment (WWR) is a congressionally mandated role under the Recovery Coordination Program (RCP) , designed to provide non-medical care coordination for wounded, ill, or injured Marines and Sailors (Recovering Service Members - RSMs) and their families. The RCC is the first non-medical point of contact for RSMs and their families, serving as the primary lead coordinator for recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration. The goal is to ensure a smooth transition back to full duty or to civilian life by addressing both immediate and long-term needs.
Key Responsibilities Needs Assessment & Plan Development:
Work with the RSM and family to conduct a Comprehensive Recovery Plan (CRP) that identifies needs, sets goals, and outlines actionable steps
Resource Coordination:
Locate, educate, and connect RSMs and families to available services, including DoD, VA, disability evaluation, legal, financial, and transition resources
Advocacy & Support:
Advocate for the RSM in the Disability Evaluation System (DES) and coordinate with section leaders to meet recovery and transition goals
Family & Caregiver Support:
Provide guidance and resources for family members and caregivers to reduce stress and support the RSM's recovery
Team Collaboration :
Participate in recovery team meetings to improve coordination and care delivery
Qualifications & Skills Education:
Bachelor's degree in Social Science, Counseling, Case Management, or related field preferred; or 5+ years' experience supporting and guiding Military service members
Experience:
Case management, Veteran services, or non-medical care coordination experience
Skills:
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities; familiarity with VA/DoD systems, DES, and benefits; ability to manage multiple cases at varying stages of recovery
Personality Traits:
Empathy, resilience, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work with diverse populations
