Job Description

Job Summary This position provides technical support to maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot the imaging systems of the hospital in both Radiology and Cardiology departments, including: Radiology Information System (RIS), Radiology Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Cardiology Information System (CVIS), Cardiology PACS. This support includes both software applications as well as hardware components of the system. The position will assist with the implementation, documentation and distribution of effective training programs for all staff members. Works with the Information Technology department in maintaining maximum amount of uptime and scheduling downtime as necessary. Acts as a training liaison between other departments and physicians who need access to the image management systems. Serves as the first person to contact when problems arise. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a healthcare-related field from an accredited college or university;
  • OR•Associate's degree in Information Systems or a healthcare-related field from an accredited institution, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a hospital department;•OR•High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a Healthcare Information Technology role.
Preferred Job Requirements Experience supporting imaging systems and modalities within a clinical or hospital environment. Familiarity with
PACS, RIS, DICOM
standards, and imaging workflows. Knowledge of healthcare information systems, networking concepts, and vendor-supported applications. Relevant technical certifications or specialized training in imaging systems or Healthcare IT.

/ Abilities Excellent communication skills to effectively and tactfully communicate with co-workers, managers, Hospital Administrators, providers, consultants, business associates and regulatory agencies presenting a professional image as a representative of Marion General Hospital. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to carry out duties in a professional manner, as well as the ability to work well under stress. Developed computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and proficiently perform computer applications related to department operations and job function. Excellent customer service skills. Analytical and problem solving skills. Strong organizational skills in order to manage multiple issues simultaneously combined with ability to effectively prioritize. Ability to work independently with a high level of concentration and attention to detail. Ability to be discreet and protect the integrity of any confidential matter or information encountered during the performance of job duties. Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Working Conditions Typical hospital clinical environment with frequent standing and walking. Work may be subject to interruptions. Risk of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious, electrical and radiation hazards. Works with protected health information. Ability to work any shift, occasional extended hours, holidays and/or weekends based on the needs of the department. Physical and Mental Activities, Tools and Equipment Uses computer and other standard office equipment. Uses patient care tools and equipment as they relate to area of clinical specialty.
