The Quality Improvement Coordinator maintains responsibility for overall support and coordination of Quality Management operations under directive of the Vice President of Quality and Corporate Compliance. The Quality Improvement Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the hospital's quality improvement, safety, and regulatory compliance efforts. This position is responsible for coordinating quality improvement initiatives, maintaining accurate reporting systems, and ensuring adherence to regulatory standards to promote high-quality, safe, and patient-centered care.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Works collaboratively with departments to develop quality improvement indicators. Monitors quality improvement indicators to evaluate progress and provide input and support as needed. Provide education and support to staff on quality improvement processes, regulatory requirements, and reporting expectations. Review, investigate, and track management of event reporting database, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution. Coordinate the preparation of agendas, accurately document meeting minutes, and track follow-up action items for Quality committees. Ensure timely distribution of meeting materials and monitor the completion of action items. Records, investigates and refers patient complaints appropriately as the liaison between complainant and Department Manger to determine outcome. Completes all components of electronic data entry in database; prepares follow-up communication to complainant as indicated. Support the submission and follow up process for NYPORTS, Root Cause Analysis, and DOH and other surveyor submissions. Prior to being electronically submitted all reports must be thoroughly investigated and summaries prepared. Assist in development, tracking, and follow up of corrective action plans in response to survey findings from DOH, OMH, HFAP, and other regulatory bodies. Participate in reviewing, revising, and developing hospital policies and procedures related to quality improvement. Attend RCA meetings, take minutes, and ensure timely follow-up on action items. Maintain survey readiness by ensuring required documentation, policies, and staff education are up to date. Prepare graphs, dashboards, and summary reports to present quality improvement data to leadership and committees. Assist in conducting audits to monitor compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Maintain the confidentiality of quality-related information and uphold ethical standards in all quality improvement activities. Work closely with clinical and non-clinical staff to promote a culture of continuous quality improvement. Other duties as assigned by Vice President of Quality and Compliance.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in quality improvement, patient safety, or healthcare regulatory compliance. Strong understanding of healthcare quality improvement methodologies, regulatory requirements, and data management. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, and quality reporting software. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, nursing, public health, or related field (Master's preferred).
