Job Description
The Clinical Informaticist is a member of the Clinical Informatics Department within the Information Services Division and is responsible for planning, implementing, updating, optimizing the use of, supporting, and training of end-users in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and related components for the corporation. The Clinical Informaticist distills, translates, and owns clinical system workflows that pertain to the collection, recording, reviewing, auditing, and use of patient health information as it pertains to acute, ambulatory and supporting healthcare departments. The Clinical Informaticist collaborates closely with Ancillary Informaticist, the Epic Technical Analyst, and the CMIO as well as the Information Technology and Data Analytics Departments to coordinate full Information Services support for the EHR. Providing routine and special EHR application end-user support is a primary function of this position. The Clinical Informaticist will supplement EHR end-user training in coordination with the department leadership. This position is responsible for production and/or dissemination of EHR-related curriculum in collaboration with operational leaders, including efforts to convey an appropriate understanding of data concepts. The Clinical Informaticist will also develop and implement, in collaboration with Human Resources, Education, Acute, Ambulatory, or Support Department leadership, retraining and regular training program updates as necessary due to operational need, EHR System updates, or regulatory changes. The Clinical Informaticist may occasionally perform the role of project manager for EHR-related implementations and updates when requested by the Manager of Informatics and Data Analytics. This position will often lead and/or participate in both clinical and financial user groups and other various workgroups as assigned. The Clinical Informaticist will report directly to the Manager of Informatics and Data Analytics and will perform other duties as they may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution or, an associate's degree in a healthcare related field from an accredited institution combined with a minimum of 2 years of EHR Informatics or Analyst experience required. Significant (4+ years) of direct experience in the Clinical Informatics field with documentation of increasing levels of responsibility may be considered in lieu of formal education.Work experience:
Background in Clinical Nursing or other Healthcare discipline strongly preferred. Recent experience with supporting EHR products is a strong preference. Current EHR vendor certifications preferred Experience leading co-workers through projects and working in groups with customers on defined and undefined goals preferred.Skills & Competencies:
Strong interpersonal customer service skills with the ability to meet and work with groups of customers and other stakeholders. Aptitude for understanding and relaying technical concepts. A strong ability to provide instruction with the facility to explain complex technical concepts effectively using mixed-media tools. The ability to adapt quickly to many functional environments, meet deadlines, work independently and as a team leader and member, and effective oral and written communication skills are essential to the position. Must have organizational and planning skills including the ability to adapt to frequent interruptions, prioritize tasks, maintain performance under pressure, and anticipate the needs of othersESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
