Job Summary:
The Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) is seeking an early-career professional with strong healthcare financial literacy and analytical skills to assist in supporting high-impact financial & operational advisory services. This position assists NHA advisory professionals in providing optimal healthcare revenue cycle transformation related services; and developing quantitative support for wide-ranging other improvement initiatives. The Senior Healthcare Consultant (Revenue Cycle) must have a broad-based healthcare finance, revenue cycle, operations, supply chain, IT and informatics background with a proven talent for designing, extracting, validating, processing and reporting data for decision-making purposes. This role requires a health care professional with experience and an ability to navigate hospital Electronic Health Records, financial and data systems in support of high-quality consulting advisory services. The ideal candidate will have experience working with both PPS and Critical Access Hospital systems.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and abilities as follows: Assist with a wide range of project-based requests to support NHA's growing consulting advisory services. Conduct financial analysis & assist in implementing operational alternatives related to hospital and clinic operations, reimbursement, and payer contracts. Work collaboratively with hospital mid-level and senior leadership to identify & implement targeted revenue cycle, operational, supply chain & IT alternatives. Utilize advanced data analytics techniques to interpret complex healthcare datasets and provide actionable insights and recommendations to hospital management. Extract, transform, and validate data from multiple EHRs and other financial systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner/Oracle, Meditech, TruBridge, Athena, etc.).
Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum 3 years' experience with health care data, financial and claims information. Experience with hospital revenue cycle, enrollment/credentialing, upfront collections, payer contracting, chargemaster, coding, billing, DNFB, denials management and appeals is
REQUIRED.
Bachelor's degree in nursing, finance, accounting, economics, IT or healthcare administration preferred Candidates with experience in both PPS and Critical Access Hospital systems highly preferred In-depth understanding of healthcare systems, Electronic Health Records (EHRs), health data standards (e.g., HL7), regulatory compliance, and financial aspects of healthcare. Strong knowledge of healthcare reimbursement structures (Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payers). Experience working with hospital Charge Master, Medicare Cost Reports, UB claims data, payer mix analysis, supply chain and IT infrastructure is required. An in-depth knowledge and understanding of PPS versus Critical Access Hospital reimbursement structures preferred. Ability to interpret hospital and clinic financial statements is required. Skilled in query languages and software for data manipulation and visualization such as Python, SQL, R, Power BI, Tableau, Microsoft Access, Excel or other compatible tools is preferred. Proficient in the use of technology to support work activities e.g., expertise in database extraction and ETL tools, data quality analysis, and proven ability to develop charts and graphs to summarize information for reporting purposes, etc. is preferred Ability to work independently and meet project deadlines. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance in financial reporting. Ensure full compliance with HIPAA and relevant security protocols during all data access, handling phases of access and transmission. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Work Environment:
Hybrid role with some in-state & overnight travel required. This is not a remote position.
