Job Description
This is an unpaid clinical internship that fulfills academic practicum and internship requirements. Interns are expected to maintain consistent weekly hours as agreed upon with their university program and the Clinical Supervisor at the Southwest Family Advocacy Center. The program begins on August 3, 2026, and ends on August 31, 2027.
Learning Opportunities:
Exposure to a multidisciplinary team approach. Observation and participation in trauma-informed clinical services for children, adolescents, and families. Advanced development of clinical skills Exposure to evidence-based and integrative treatment modalities. Development of professional identity. Facilitate the Safety and Awareness Curriculum with clients on non-criminal, non-open cases. Provide supportive psychoeducation and guidance to parents and caregivers of identified clients. Observe and co-facilitate clinical sessions alongside licensed therapists as approved by the Clinical Supervisor. Deliver playroom-based direct services with child clients in a trauma-informed manner. Participate in weekly individual supervision with the Clinical Supervisor. Attend weekly group supervision with SWFAC clinical team members and Clinical Supervisor. Attend the monthly Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meeting to observe collaborative care coordination across agencies. Attend mandatory clinical training, including, but not limited to, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and other professional development relevant to child and family trauma care. Adhere to ethical, legal, and confidentiality standards set forth by SWFAC and relevant professional guidelines. Must be currently enrolled in a Master's Degree level program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and must be eligible for and actively completing a clinical internship as part of an accredited program. No direct experience is required for this position. Demonstrated interest in child welfare, trauma, and family system work is preferred. Must be at least 21 years of age. A successful applicant must agree to attend and successfully complete training specific to their volunteer position. Must successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation and psychological evaluation. Must obtain TOC within 30 days from the date of hire.Similar jobs in Avondale, AZ
