Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Records Specialist to join our skilled healthcare team within a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in managing medical records, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a thorough understanding of medical terminology. This role offers an opportunity to ensure the accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of patient information, supporting high-quality care delivery. The Medical Records-SNF position is a paid role that plays a vital part in maintaining efficient clinical operations and compliance with healthcare regulations. Responsibilities Accurately organize, maintain, and update patient medical records in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to input, retrieve, and manage patient data efficiently. Ensure all medical records are complete, legible, and compliant with privacy laws such as HIPAA. Collaborate with clinical staff to obtain necessary documentation and resolve discrepancies or missing information. Assist in the preparation of medical records for audits, inspections, or legal requests with meticulous attention to detail. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information at all times while facilitating secure access for authorized personnel. Support administrative tasks related to medical records management, including filing, scanning, and data entry. Qualifications Prior experience working in a medical office environment or healthcare setting, preferably within a skilled nursing facility. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical records management software. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks accurately under deadlines. Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy compliance. Effective communication skills for collaborating with clinical staff and external agencies. A high school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in health information management is advantageous but not required.
