Full Job Description Description:
The Insurance Specialist is responsible for managing the authorization process for home care services from health insurance companies. This role involves obtaining necessary approvals, updating electronic medical records (EMR) with authorization details, and communicating outcomes to relevant stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of insurance procedures, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in EMR systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Request and secure authorizations for home care services from health insurance companies. Follow up with insurance providers to obtain authorization confirmations or additional required documentation. Accurately update the EMR system with authorization details, including approval dates, service limits, and any special conditions. Ensure that all authorization information is current and accurately reflects the insurance company's response. Notify the appropriate clinical and administrative staff of authorization approvals, denials, and any conditions related to the provided services. Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve issues related to denied or pending authorizations. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures related to insurance authorizations. Stay informed about changes in insurance policies, coding, and billing practices. Performs other duties as requested.
