Role:
The Referrals Specialist, under the guidance of the Health Services Manager and Referrals Supervisor, is responsible for keeping patient records up to date, handling medical records requests, and helping with data collection. They also manage patient referrals, coordinate follow-ups with providers and care teams, and assist with arranging travel for patient appointments.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent Required
  • One year of related clinical office experience and/or training Preferred
  • Experience including knowledge of insurance programs like QUEST, understanding of Hawaiʻi health care networks, and basic coding skills using ICD-10 and CPT.
Responsibilities:
Prioritizes patient referrals to correlate with managing patient flow for maximum efficiency and optimum care provision. Demonstrates appropriate utilization of medical records to document care within scope of job duties. Coordinates referrals, preauthorization, and follow-up with appropriate external resources.
Skills:
This position requires basic office skills, computer proficiency for data entry, and the ability to multitask and meet deadlines. Candidates should be organized, team-oriented, able to follow instructions, resolve patient concerns, and communicate effectively with a diverse population. Knowledge of patient chart documentation is also preferred.
