Job Description

Our Epic Specialist full-time position is 100% on-site at our Ooka health center located in Wailuku, Hawaii. This position supports our internal users and functions as our internal Epic help desk and liaison to our Epic provider, Health Choice Network.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
To help care teams maximize efficiency, accuracy, and quality of care provided to our patients using EPIC as an electronic health record. Serves as the Liaison between the employees and the EPIC Team. Provides training and evaluates the EPIC related needs of the organization. Provides direct and indirect support to all EPIC users through in-person, phone, or remote access support.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
Liaison A primary clinical department(s) will be assigned Represents the department in the EPIC Implementation and Optimization Meetings Brings forward issues/problems/workflows not working to the
EPIC/HCN
Team for discussion and resolution Brings recommendations back to the department First point of contact for department staff for any EPIC related issues and requests
EPIC/HCN
Team A contributing member of the EPIC Team Assists with developing, implementing, maintaining & monitoring EPIC system and patient data Identifies, assesses, and troubleshoots any technical EPIC related problems Works with external vendors and other entities as required Assists the EPIC Optimization Director with all upgrades and implementations Consults the EPIC Optimization Director for issues requiring additional assistance Provides back up for other EPIC Specialists when needed Trainer Primary trainer for the department Providers and staff Provides training for new hires Provides on-going support to new and existing users Provides training as a result of software changes due to Service Packs and Upgrades Provides training on current EHR while going through the EPIC Implementation process Workflows/processes Work directly with the clinical departments to maintain workflows and update appropriate recommendations Identifies any gaps in user knowledge and provide appropriate training as needed Audit workflows to ensure consistency across the department and organization over time System Security Create or terminate new EPIC users and assign security & privileges Modify and maintain user accounts, user groups, and appropriate security settings Ensures that the privacy of all patient medical information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and company policies and procedures. Other Duties Attends additional training sessions to improve deficiencies and enhance knowledge/skills. Performs other duties and functions, which facilitate interdisciplinary team process and are consistent with demonstrated competencies. Education Proof of education, training or experience as a Medical Office Assistant or comparable Associates Degree or higher in
Business Technology or Healthcare Administration Experience:
Strong knowledge of HIPAA rules & regulations Previous experience in medical or healthcare setting, including
Electronic Health Record Medical Terminology Skills/Competencies:
Must be confident in their ability to communicate with Providers and the clinical care teams Excellent written and verbal communication skills Self-learner Time management Ability to work independently Demonstrates positive attitude Works collaboratively with colleagues within and outside the department, including external vendors. Demonstrates flexibility in accepting, changing, or completing duties & responsibilities
Certifications :
Valid driver's license Access to an insured vehicle. TB clearance within previous 12 months We are a nonprofit FQHC and are unable to support relocation expenses for a selected Epic Specialist candidate who is not a current resident of Maui, Hawaii.
