Job Description

Position :
MA/Epic Support Specialist -
Clinic Location :
Various locations within Northwest Indiana; travel required
Job Summary :
The EPIC Support Specialist displays an advanced understanding of the EPIC electronic medical record system and the organization's specific office workflows. The ESS is responsible for teaching and training newly hired Registration and/or Clinical staff within the organization. The specialist is expected to travel to the new hire's home office during the duration of training. The specialist will provide direct support during the pre-implementation process and also post-go live support as assigned. The Epic Support Specialist may perform front desk duties and/or clinical tasks as applicable and as assigned within the organization's physician practices.
Education/ Experience Requirements:
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent required
  • Previous experience with EPIC electronic medical record system required.
  • Proficiency with Windows based desktop application is required.
  • The Epic Support Specialist must possess excellent attitude, interpersonal skills, and communication abilities necessary to interact with patients, family members, physicians, and other organization associates.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast paced environment is required.
  • Basic understanding of medical documentation and terms; ability to spell accurately; able to accurately record information.
  • Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
  • Flexible schedule and travel will be required.

Clinical Support:
Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required OR active current certification as a Registered Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant required; Six months' previous experience as a Medical Assistant preferred; Must maintain current CPR certification and TB certification.
