Job Description

The Data Integrity Representative is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the patient record contained in the Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI). Monitors the status of duplicate, overlap and overlay creation; researches and validates all potential patient matches and data corrections across all systems and with all appropriate FMOLHS facilities. Works closely with all FMOLHS facility specialists to ensure EMPI integrity. Experience
  • Associate's Degree or 5 years experience in IT, HIM, or Business Office. Education
  • High School graduate or equivalent with 5 years experience OR Associates degree in HIM with 2 years experience OR Bachelor's degree in HIM. Special Skills

Detail Oriented. Job Duties Produces and monitors EMPI potential duplicate, merges, overlay and overlap reports, RMEs (roster machine engine) WQs, and Care Every correction on a daily basis. Plans and coordinates daily operations (transcription, chart corrections, contact moves, and logs/work queues for DNFB) including managing priorities, time management and a quality assurance in area of responsibility. Reviews each potential match and determines the validity by researching patient information in all pertinent systems. Reviews physical medical records when necessary to make match determinations and corrections. Makes recommendations regarding naming conventions, duplicate and overlay creation statistics and other EMPI issues. Maintains records of data corrections completed for future reference and ongoing improvements. Applies the organizations documented business rules to each proven duplicate pair to determine the surviving MRN, any demographic updates and all downstream tasks that may apply. Coordinates system-wide and departmental corrections. Follows up to ensure that data is consistent across the organization. Supports efforts to an enterprise wide MPI including clean up of historical duplicate records in EPIC and downstream systems as applicable. Coordinates EMPI functions with key personnel (clinical team members, leadership, and others) to coordinate merge functions and data corrections at all FMOLHS organizations and ensures that facility specific combines are performed in a timely manner. Develops and implements data driven performance improvement methodologies. Maintains accurate records for use in evaluating organizational performance. Identifies ways of improving current services and consults with management on issues and problems. Ensures security, integrity, and privacy of FMOLHS data in conjunction with FMOLHS policies and procedures. Proactively and independently solves problems and operates with a high level of accuracy. Exhibits excellent communication skills and follow through with data, customers and peers due to the high level of patient safety and compliance risk associated with review and remediation of duplication patients/encounters. Attends meetings and provides recommendations as subject matter expert in area of responsibility in an effort to promote efficiency and quality.
