The hospital's patient-first mission is supported by strong quality outcomes, solid safety practices, and consistently low healthcare-associated infection rates. A reputation built on community trust reinforces a stable and respected brand presence. A collaborative, Magnet-aligned professional practice environment supports shared governance and evidence-based care. Access to modern clinical infrastructure—including advanced imaging, digital health tools, and analytics—enables a Clinical Laboratory Manager to improve turnaround times, strengthen diagnostic accuracy, and enhance service reliability. The organization also demonstrates an innovation-forward approach and value-based care initiatives, creating strong alignment for a Laboratory Services leader focused on continuous improvement and modernization. Within the Laboratory Services, the Clinical Laboratory Manager will support a Critical Access Hospital serving rural Central California communities. This facility provides essential emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and point-of-care testing for the surrounding communities. As a safety-net provider, the organization sustains 24/7 emergency services, primary care, and specialty outreach programs. A strong emphasis is placed on continuity of care, timely diagnostics, and keeping patients within the community to reduce long-distance travel for essential services. The Manager of Laboratory reports to a senior clinical or ancillary services leader and works in close collaboration with the Medical Director. The role is supported by a collaborative and engaged care team, including
CLS/MLS/MLT
professionals, phlebotomy staff, and point-of-care coordinators. Core responsibilities include oversight of daily laboratory operations, staffing and scheduling, staff development, budgeting and supply chain management, and LIS/EHR optimization. The role also ensures strong quality systems through regulatory readiness (CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission), proficiency testing, and quality control programs. Additional focus areas include lean workflow optimization, partnership with infection prevention and clinical teams, and driving service-line improvements to enhance efficiency and patient outcomes. Life in Central California offers strong lifestyle appeal with year-round sunshine, access to mountains, lakes, and national parks, and abundant outdoor recreation including hiking, fishing, and camping. The region offers a lower cost of living compared to major California metros, with a mix of housing options from rural acreage to family-friendly neighborhoods. Communities are known for their local pride, agricultural heritage, and growing healthcare-driven economy, with additional expansion in renewables, logistics, and technology sectors. The Manager of Laboratory can also expect competitive compensation, potential sign-on and relocation support, comprehensive health benefits, retirement matching, generous PTO, and continuing education support with tuition assistance and paid CEUs. Clear leadership pathways and professional development opportunities are available for those looking to grow within laboratory and ancillary services leadership.
