A Day in the Life As a Service Center Manager at our Emeryville, CA location , you'll be responsible for overseeing the service center and acting as a liaison between the laboratory and local clients. The compensation range for this role is $75,000 to $105,000, in addition to eligibility for an annual bonus program (6%), commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location. To thrive in this role, you'll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities: Oversee and manage the daily operations of the service center, including scheduling, workflow and resource allocation Oversee the service expense, controlling costs while maintaining high level of service quality Monitor and improve operational processes for efficiency, drive standardization initiatives and cost-effective strategies Supervise, train, and mentor staff, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards Evaluate staff performance, conduct performance improvement plans, and provide professional development opportunities Recruit, conduct interview qualified personnel as needed Directly manage client accounts, up to $1M in annual revenue Develop and enforce procedures and protocols to align with the main lab in Orange, CA Work closely with the Business Development Manager to develop and expand client base in the Bay area Working knowledge of quality systems and non-conformance processes, with the ability to support service center compliance, ensure timely follow-up, and drive resolution of quality issues Provide technical expertise to clients Supports the Proposal Team with RFP response Handle customer complaints and service issues effectively Coordinate with the main lab and other service centers for seamless service delivery Maintain vehicle fleet to ensure good working order Comply with the Company's Quality Assurance Program, Health & Safety Plan, and other policies Other duties as assigned by the Lab Director and/or Regional Director Your Expertise and Skills These requirements reflect the knowledge, skills and abilities that help you do your best work here. 5+ years in environmental laboratory management or service center operations, with 3+ years in supervisor role 1+ year of project management experience in the environmental laboratory setting Solid technical understanding needed to engage in real-time with clients, support the local team, and effectively collaborate with subject matter experts to evaluate solutions and drive timely resolution for clients inquiries Demonstrated ability to independently assess day-to-day operational challenges, leveraging strong working technical knowledge to support site operations, assist local team needs, and address client inquiries on service capabilities, coordinating with SMEs as needed. Proficient in Laboratory Information System (LIMS), fleet management software, computer skills, including MS Office suite. Excellent analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage staff.
