As the client's lab footprint and research activity have expanded, they are looking for an experienced, on-site professional to manage the day-to-day environmental, health, and safety functions of their lab. You would be a W-2 employee of EHS Analytical Solutions, placed on-site with our client. You will not be working alone: this position is backed by our senior-level safety staff, who are available to mentor, guide, and provide technical support whenever needed. It's a great fit for a capable lab professional who wants to deepen their EHS expertise with the support of an established industrial hygiene and safety consulting firm behind them. This is a part-time role of 8 to 16 hours per week. For candidates who are a strong fit, there is potential to grow into additional hours supporting other EHS Analytical clients over time, though additional hours are not guaranteed. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day lab safety operations and serve as the on-site point of contact for EHS matters. Oversee hazardous waste management, including proper segregation, labeling, accumulation, and coordination of disposal. Manage lab supplies and inventory, including ordering and stocking of safety-related consumables. Coordinate equipment maintenance and support calibration and service scheduling for lab and safety equipment. Develop and deliver personnel safety training (e.g., new-hire orientation, hazard communication, lab-specific procedures). Support and maintain safety compliance with applicable Cal/OSHA, federal, and local requirements. Maintain and help update the Chemical Hygiene Plan and other written safety programs. Conduct routine lab inspections and help track and close out corrective actions. Maintain safety documentation, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and recordkeeping. Required Qualifications Laboratory management experience, which may include lab roles where you also carried safety responsibilities. Working familiarity with laboratory safety practices and good lab housekeeping. Know basic hazardous waste handling and general lab compliance. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Ability to work on-site in Irvine, CA on a flexible part-time schedule. Authorization to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications Degree in a scientific, environmental, occupational safety, or related field, or equivalent experience. Working knowledge of Cal/OSHA Title 8, the Laboratory Standard (8 CCR 5191 / Chemical Hygiene Plan), hazardous waste regulations (RCRA and California DTSC/Title 22), and Hazard Communication. Familiarity with biosafety practices and Bloodborne Pathogens (8 CCR 5193), if applicable to the lab. Prior EHS in a biotech, pharmaceutical, or research laboratory setting. Safety certifications (e.g., CHMM, ASP, CSP, or progress toward) are a plus but not required. Compensation $55-70 per hour, depending on experience. This is a part-time, W-2 contract position (up to two days per week). Paid sick leave is provided in accordance with California law. Work Environment On-site work in an active biotechnology laboratory. Flexible scheduling within standard business hours, arranged with the client. Requires the ability to perform lab inspections and EHS walkthroughs, including standing, walking, and occasional lifting of lab and safety supplies. About EHS Analytical Solutions, Inc.
