Supervisor-Clinical Lab Scientist - Full Time Days Valley Presbyterian Hospital - 4.0 Van Nuys, CA Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Clinical Laboratory Scientist License Bachelor's degree Full Job Description Clinical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor Valley Presbyterian Hospital Lead Laboratory Operations & Support High-Quality Patient Care At Valley Presbyterian Hospital, our Clinical Laboratory team plays a critical role in delivering accurate, timely diagnostic results that support exceptional patient care. We are seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Scientist Supervisor to oversee daily operations within one or more laboratory sections and/or shifts, while supporting quality, compliance, staff development, and operational excellence across the lab. What You'll Do Supervise the daily operations of one or more clinical laboratory sections and/or assigned shift(s) Serve as a working supervisor in areas such as hematology, coagulation, chemistry, microbiology, serology, and/or blood bank Schedule, organize, and assign duties to laboratory staff to ensure efficient workflow and appropriate coverage Review staff work to ensure testing is performed accurately and in accordance with established standards and procedures Monitor turnaround times and help optimize workflow to support timely test results Troubleshoot equipment and instrumentation issues as needed Maintain inventory control of laboratory supplies, reagents, and materials within assigned section(s) Oversee quality control processes, maintenance documentation, and instrumentation records Assist with onboarding and training of new employees Supervise Clinical Laboratory Scientists and Laboratory Assistants, providing guidance, coaching, and support Prepare performance evaluations and assist with employee counseling when appropriate Serve as a liaison between the laboratory, medical staff, and other hospital departments in the absence of laboratory leadership Support compliance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and patient safety standards Perform additional duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the laboratory What You Bring Strong leadership and supervisory skills in a clinical laboratory environment Ability to train, coach, and support laboratory personnel across technical sections Advanced technical knowledge and sound clinical judgment Strong understanding of laboratory workflow, quality control, and maintenance of instrumentation records Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Commitment to quality, patient safety, and service excellence Ability to work collaboratively with laboratory staff, physicians, and hospital leadership Experience Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist preferred Prior experience supervising laboratory staff or leading technical sections preferred Education Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, Medical Technology, or related science required Participation in continuing education (minimum 12 hours/year) to maintain licensure requirements Requirements Current and valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license LA City Fire Card certification required within 30 days of hire Why VPH Mission-driven healthcare organization committed to quality patient care Leadership opportunity within a collaborative and high-performing laboratory team Meaningful role supporting diagnostic excellence and operational efficiency Opportunity to mentor staff and contribute to continuous improvement across laboratory services Apply today to lead laboratory operations and help deliver accurate, high-quality diagnostic services at Valley Presbyterian Hospital.
