Overview
JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services, supervises and assist in monitoring the efficiency of general clinical laboratory and pathology operations, including operational planning (overseas the day to day operation), orientation/in-service-training-motivation-performance evaluation and management of staff, organizing and delineating all duties and responsibilities of all clinical testing including POC, quality management, workflow and processes, problem solving, equipment maintenance, inter-hospital relationships with the laboratory, TAT evaluation, proficiency testing review, and various other projects that are assigned. This position serves patients in and out of the hospital of all ages.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING A
bachelor's degree from an accredited college of university, a master's degree is a plus but not required. A valid and current Clinical Laboratory Scientist license issued by the State of California Department of Health Services. ASCP certification is preferred, but not required. At least 6 years of experience as a lead/supervisor CLS preferred. Must be able to converse well in English because of physician, nurse, and patient contact. Have good manual dexterity. Work well in times of stress. Have excellent organizational skills. Have excellent people skills. Have computer / LIS skills.
