Laboratory Corporation of America has an opening for a Technical Laboratory Supervisor in San Diego, CA Supervise the day-to-day operations of the Chemistry department and ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed, and results are reported in a timely manner. Monitor daily workflow and schedule adequate assay coverage. Ensure all shifts in the department are properly staffed. Research and resolve any production/technical errors while escalating when necessary. Engage in continuous process and service level agreements and ensure all equipment is properly maintained through Quality Control. Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents and evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations. Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development. Perform benchwork as needed and maintain proficiency and competency in technical operations. Ensure all work is performed in accordance with state and federal regulations. Administer and manage policies and procedures; process and maintain payroll and personnel files. Perform administrative duties when needed. Will supervise 17 positions including: Laboratory Assistant; Medical Laboratory Technician; and Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Must possess at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field and at least 4 years of experience as a Licensed CLS (Clinical Laboratory Scientist) or related role.
Must also possess the following:
at least four years of supervisory experience; and at least four years of CLS bench experience in the chemistry discipline. Laboratory Corporation of America

Job Responsibilities:
- Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups
- Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests etc.
- Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
- Process billing information and collect payments when required

- prepare and label plates according to established protocols
- Prepare clinical samples for testing and identify sample related issues
- Adhere to quality control guidelines to ensure integrity of laboratory specimens
- Maintains inventory and organization of specimen samples in the freezer

- Assist coordinating documentation

Minimum Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology Preferred Qualification
- Current or prior Labcorp experience
- 1 year or more of previous experience working in a clinical laboratory
Additional Job Standards:
- Experience with molecular biology techniques highly desired
- Knowledge of general laboratory processes and medical terminology
- Ability to maintain production and quality standards determined by the clinical laboratory
- Able to work with whole blood or blood by-products and comply with safety policies and procedures outlined in laboratory procedures and safety training provided
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Able to perform repetitive tasks frequently as needed throughout the day
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
Pay Range:
$21.00- $23.
