  • Full-time About Us FGL Environmental is a growing agriculture and environmental services company dedicated to delivering high-quality analytical testing, and scientific expertise to support sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship.
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Laboratory Manager to lead our Central Coast laboratory operations and ensure the highest standards of quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Position Summary The Laboratory Manager will oversee all aspects of operations for a small, office environment, including personnel management, quality assurance, workflow coordination, equipment maintenance, and client service. This role requires a self-directed professional who can work independently, make sound decisions, solve problems proactively, and manage competing priorities with minimal supervision. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day laboratory operations as a two-person team to ensure timely and accurate testing results. Work directly with one other field staff, provide training, and foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, and quality assurance requirements. Develop, implement, and monitor laboratory procedures, policies, and quality control programs. Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and operation of laboratory equipment. Review and validate analytical data and laboratory reports. Coordinate sample receiving, testing schedules, and reporting processes. Manage laboratory inventory, supplies, and vendor relationships. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and service quality. Support business growth through technical expertise and client interactions as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in Biology, Microbiology, or a related field. Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience in Microbiology. Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make informed decisions with minimal oversight. Able to move throughout the laboratory environment and safely lift, carry, and transport materials and samples as required. Desired Attributes Self-motivated and highly accountable. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality. Ability to lead by example and build a positive team culture.
