Pagosa Springs Medical Center- Pagosa Springs, Colorado Position Highlight Lead both the operational and clinical oversight of a full-service rural hospital laboratory while helping shape the future growth, quality, and innovation of laboratory services. Position Summary Pagosa Springs Medical Center (PSMC) is seeking an experienced and strategic laboratory leader to serve as the Manager

Appendix W CMS and other regulatory standards Oversee competency assessments, onboarding, and ongoing staff education Participate in patient testing and laboratory operations as needed Maintain and oversee LIS functionality and workflows Position has authority to manually enter results into the LIS as appropriate for technical oversight responsibilities Strategic Planning & Program Development Develop short- and long-range operational and strategic plans Evaluate opportunities for service expansion, testing capabilities, and equipment upgrades Support innovation, process improvement, and operational efficiencies Collaborate with leadership on organizational initiatives and strategic growth Quality, Compliance & Performance Improvement Lead laboratory quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives Monitor department KPIs, quality indicators, and operational metrics Ensure readiness for surveys, inspections, and accreditation reviews Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and regulatory documentation Fiscal & Resource Management Develop, manage, and monitor department budgets Oversee inventory management, capital planning, and resource utilization Review department productivity, charges, and operational expenses Support contract review and vendor coordination Human Resource Leadership Lead recruitment, onboarding, retention, and staff development efforts Conduct performance evaluations and support coaching and corrective action processes Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture Promote cross-training and professional development opportunities Collaboration & Communication Collaborate closely with: Pathologists Providers Nursing leadership Informatics Ancillary departments Senior leadership Communicate operational updates, quality concerns, and strategic initiatives effectively Participate in organizational committees, huddles, and leadership meetings Education Bachelor's degree or higher in: Medical Laboratory Science Laboratory Sciences Healthcare-related field required Completion of approved internship in Medical Technology preferred Experience Minimum five (5) years of laboratory experience required Minimum two (2) years of supervisory or management experience required Strong experience in: Clinical laboratory operations Quality management Regulatory compliance Staff leadership Critical Access Hospital or rural healthcare experience strongly preferred Licensure & Certifications MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification required Current AHA BLS certification required Skills & Knowledge Strong knowledge of: Laboratory operations and testing Quality assurance and quality control Regulatory standards and survey readiness Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Budgeting and operational management Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Proficiency with: Microsoft Office Electronic health records Data analysis and reporting tools
Compensation & Benefits Base Compensation Range:
$82,680- $127,816 annual, based on 0-22 years of relevant experience.
Starting Work Bonus:
This position is eligible for a starting work bonus of up to $5,000. Eligibility, amount, and payment terms are subject to Pagosa Springs Medical Center's compensation policies and may vary based on position, experience, and employment status. Bonus payments, if applicable, are typically issued after the employee has met required employment and service criteria.Moving Expense Reimbursement:
This position is eligible for a moving expense reimbursement of up to $3,000. Reimbursement is subject to Pagosa Springs Medical Center's relocation policy and requires prior approval. Eligible expenses and reimbursement amounts may vary based on position and individual circumstances. Reimbursement is processed in accordance with established policy and applicable tax regulations.Benefits:
Benefits include generous paid time off, separate sick leave, health, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long-term disability and option for short-term disability, and retirement plan with employer contribution.Job Type:
