Full Job Description Description:
Precision Healthcare Specialists is seeking an experienced Pathology Lab Manager to oversee the operations of our pathology laboratory. This role ensures accurate, timely, and high-quality laboratory testing while maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards. The Lab Manager will lead staff, manage workflows, coordinate with providers, and support continuous quality improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, a background in pathology or clinical laboratory science, and experience managing a high-volume lab environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Staff Management Supervise, train, and mentor laboratory staff, including histotechnologists, lab technicians, and support personnel Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and professional development Manage staffing schedules, workloads, and daily assignments Promote a collaborative, team-oriented laboratory culture Lab Operations & Quality Control Oversee all laboratory testing processes, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timely reporting Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations Implement and monitor quality control and quality assurance programs Review and approve test results, troubleshoot discrepancies, and ensure accurate documentation Manage inventory of reagents, supplies, and equipment; coordinate maintenance and repairs Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and workflow improvements Regulatory & Administrative Duties Ensure laboratory operations meet regulatory and accreditation requirements Prepare reports for internal management and external regulatory agencies Participate in budgeting, cost management, and financial oversight for lab operations Collaborate with providers, clinical teams, and administration to optimize lab support
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related field required; Master's preferred Minimum 3-5 years of laboratory management experience in pathology, histology, or clinical lab settings Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, instrumentation, and workflow management Certification preferred:
ASCP, MT
(ASCP), HTL(ASCP), or equivalent Experience with EMR and Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Proven leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-building skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume lab Knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards Proactive, professional, and solution-oriented mindset Work Environment High-volume pathology laboratory Combination of administrative oversight and hands-on lab supervision Interaction with clinical staff, providers, and laboratory personnel Why Join Precision Healthcare Specialists?
